3/2/11: Missing: miniature pinscher, female, named "Mickey", family lives on East St. in Grinnell. Please call Rochel at 641-990-4074. They have already called the police and NorthSide Vet.

Found: female Shetland Sheep dog, sable and white, currently in foster care with PALS.

Found Large dark tabby cat, male.

PALS has received a couple of calls about lost animals. Please be on the lookout for the following:

Biscuit - a 7 yr old unneutered male lab. Last seen by the Jacob Krumm Preserve.

Black cat - small male, recently neutered. 2 streaks on his head. Last seen by the 1100-1200 block of East Street.

If you hear anything about either of these animals, please email palsiowa@pcpartner.net.

Also, PALS recently picked up a young, unneutered yellow lab that had been hanging around Monsanto for the last two weeks. He is so sweet! If you know of anyone who has been missing their young yellow lab, please email palsiowa@pcpartner.net.

LOST in Minnesota: 2 Black lab/shep pups

We are missing our two Black Lab Shepherd puppies. I am attaching a picture of them. Casinova and Pirate are about 1 year old and went missing from my sister's house in the Highland area of St. Paul, MN on or about 12/10/2010. We are devastated that Casinova and Pirate are missing. Cassi has a white tuft of hair that looks like a t crossing on his chest. They look predominantly lab with long legs and a long nose. There are anywhere from 50-85 pounds, maybe more. Our pup from that litter in AZ is approximately 95 pounds. I am attaching a picture of them that I have. They may be larger.

Please disseminate this email to everyone in your community and anyone who does rescue work in MN. If you find our beloved dog babies, please call us immediately. We will come and get them. They are microchipped, and I will get you the numbers as soon as I have them.

LOST: Border Collie - Iowa City
We have lost a black and white border collie named Doobie. He is black and white with a brown leg. He has a green and black collar on with tags and he is microchipped. He is 3 years old. He was last seen at Dubuque and Fairchild in Iowa Cit, IA and he was running. He was spooked by a loud noise and he may be injured. We are heart broken. LOST: 2 Labradors, 1 yellow, 1 black
My 2 labs broke out of their kennel in Newton, IA on Monday, November 22. Two dogs who matched their description were reported running on/around Highway 6 near Kellog sometime Monday. After calling around Grinnell (PALS and Northside Vet Clinic), I learned that someone tried to drop off 2 dogs at Northside on Monday or Tuesday and the vet thought one was a yellow lab. I am hopeful that this person has my dogs and she is still looking for me!

Lucy is a female black lab who weighs around 50 pounds. She was wearing a purple collar and a green and black guardian bark collar.

Linus is a yellow lab who has longer fur than normal for a lab (might have a little golden retriever in him?). He was wear a black collar and a bark collar as well. It is possible that Linus has skinned paws since he did another time he took off.

I am offering a $150 reward for the return of my two furbabies! I am heartbroken about their escape and will do anything to get them home safely!

Found in Deep River, Golden Retriever, August 4: When I was walking the morning of August 4th around the intersection of Hwy 21 & Hwy 85, a male, Gold Retreiver followed me home. He is not neutered. But “Buddy” as we have called him, is super sweet. Still has puppy habits, is very skinny, and has some sores due to ditch weeds working their way through his hair and rubbing on his hide. He had no collar or tags, but did bear a red flee/tick collar. I would really hate to put him down, but we already have a gold retriever/lab and she is not much for sharing her farm with another dog. We are also getting ready to attended the State Fair this weekend and don’t have anyone to care for him while we are away. I have attached some photos of him and have also posted them to my Facebook page as well. Thanks for your help.

Found Ewart Road, south of Grinnell, pit bull mix pup: This young, male dog is at the shelter. He is very pale off-white, with darker markings on his face. Maybe 7 or 8 months old. Very sweet.

Chocolate lab or German shorthair or Irish setter mix?? Male - 8 to 12 months old, Large, reddish brown short coat, with longer hair on ears, arrived at shelter in greatly malnourished condition. Very puppy-ish playful personality.

2 tiny kittens, one calico longhair, 1 orange & white longhair with curled ear tips, both female.

FOUND, ELM Street, Grinnell: A large grey cat with a white bib and white paws has been coming to our back door for the past few days. He is very polite. He's pretty skinny. Leave a comment on this blog or contact PALS if you know this cat.

These dogs are all available for adoption. If one of them belongs to you, call PALS now to claim your dog. There is a boarding fee.

We found a dog last Sunday at Rock Creek Lake. She is about 25 lbs, tan with a tan collar. She is very sweet and loves people. We have been taking care of her, but we really need to find her owner. Our number is 236-8416 or 236-1310.

LOST : Dog at Holiday Lake near Brooklyn, last seen Friday, August 7, in the evening, skinny black and tan Shepherd. His name is Nero. Dog may appear sick, but he is healthy, just skinny.

LOST: Dog 1 1/2 yr old female Yorkie named "Lucy". Lucy is a very petite Yorkie, probably 3-4 lbs, black and tan. She is very sweet and spins circles at your feet. She was let out 11:30 pm Wednesday night, August 19th just before the storm came in and we think she got spooked or ??

FOUND: Daschund, currently held at Northside Vet Clinic. If not claimed will be turned over to PALS on Tuesday, Sept. 1. More info later

FOUND: 2 Dogs, large young females, husky or Aussie mix? One beige, one black with white stockings, both have bi-colored eyes (1 brown, 1 blue) Currently being held at Grandma's House boarding house. More info and pics later.

July Stray Animals found:
These animals were picked up in or near Grinnell and taken to Northside Vet Clinic. After being unclaimed for 7 days, the animals have been relocated to the Poweshiek Animal League Shelter.

If you think one of these animals may belong to you please contact the shelter at 236-4288 or palsiowa@pcpartner.net. The shelter is also open to the public every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Dog: Chocolate Lab/Retriever mix, female, about 2 years old, ask for "Freda"

Dog: Wire-haired terrier mix, male, about 20 lbs. adult, found near Searsboro ask for "Jed"

Dog: Rat terrier mix, female, adult, white with brown ears, ask for "Moxie"

What do I do if I've lost or found an animal?

In Grinnell:

contact the police department at 641-236-2650 to leave a report.
call KGRN at 641-236-1410 and have the animal listed on "Dog Gone" (for any type of pet)
List the pet in the Pennysaver & Poweshiek County C-R 641-236-5611
List the pet in the Grinnell Herald Register 641-236-3113
List your pet here: leave a comment with contact info, call 641-236-4288 or email palsiowa@pcpartner.net We can add photographs if they are digital (no scanning)

If you have found a pet, the police will pick up the animal and take it to Northside Vet Clinic. The clinic will hold the animal for 7 days. If you prefer, you may care for the pet yourself until an owner is found, but do leave a report with the police department.

If your lost pet has been picked up and taken to the clinic: To redeem your pet from the clinic you will need your pet's current rabies vaccination certificate. If you cannot provide proof of vaccination, your pet will need to be vaccinated before leaving the clinic. You will also need to pay an impound fee in order to claim your pet. Unclaimed animals may be released to PALS, if PALS has space.
